January 2015 – Ferguson Valley Events

January 2015 was a fairly quiet month for us here at FVE, with just a few dry hire jobs and a couple of big wedding set-ups but a whole lotta fun!

FVE NYE Party - Ferguson Valley Events

We kicked off the new year with a little party in my backyard, using some of FVE’s furniture and festoon lighting of course! It was so nice to relax with friends, show them the beautiful Ferguson Valley, and start the year off on a good note.

In mid-January we had two big local weddings to set up. The first was for Lauren and Sheridan in the St Aidan’s Chapel and reception in the St Aidan’s Winery function centre in the Ferguson Valley.

A bit of a before and after for you of the new function centre at St Aidan’s. It can be hard to imagine a wedding set up when all you see is an empty room, so ask your stylist or furniture hire specialist for photos so you can narrow down what you need for your event.

With so much going on the tables at a formal sit-down meal, Lauren very sensibly chose a simple centrepiece of birdcage with baby’s breath. With the hand-made lace hoops and the paper lanterns and festoon lights all softening the ceiling space, this wedding was a stunner.

Our second wedding that weekend was for Kristelle and Rhys at Alverstoke in Brunswick. Their ceremony was held under the shady 150 year old tree, much to the relief of their guests I’m sure on such a hot day!

Kristelle and Rhys chose a more casual style of reception, having a mix of seating options outdoors under the stars (under our festoon lighting actually!) and a cocktail/canapé style of food service. Personally I LOVE this style of wedding if you’re after something a little less formal.

I love that Kristelle had a bridal table as well as a lounges, bar/cocktail tables (wine barrels) and some regular tables. It gave the space a real focal point.

Later on in January we had two dry hire jobs that have stayed with me – the first for Jess and Emerton at Stonebarn – a beautiful venue in Pemberton that we do a lot of weddings at.

I remember this one well because it was before we invested in a truck and I only had my little ute for transport. No-one thought I would fit all the tables, chairs, benches and linen on the ute in one go! Well I proved them wrong!! I got a few funny looks on the road though 🙂

Another dry hire job was for Sharni and Jon at Meneghello Estate in Yallingup – I saw this beautiful photo by Russell Ord pop up in my newsfeed and I just loved the shot of the beautiful bride and her dad framed by our mismatched wooden chairs. So lovely seeing a photo of what’s happening on the day, it makes all the hard work worthwhile for us to see a big smile on the bride’s face.
