March 2015 – Ferguson Valley Events

Mad March 2015! A very popular month for weddings in the southwest, with the weather still warm and sunny (mostly!). We did have one weekend out of the four in March where it rained, so please keep in mind if you’re busy planning your special day, no matter what the time of year make sure you have a Plan B and that your family and wedding suppliers know what your Plan B is.

Even if you don’t end up using it, it can be a great way to make sure you have everything organised. And if you do have to put it into action, it will save you a lot of stress to have a plan ready to go. Your venue or wedding stylist should be able to help you come up with some options for alternative ceremony locations if it’s going to be out of doors, and if you’re planning an under-the-stars reception then paying a cancellation fee on a marquee might be worth it for your peace of mind.

Well that’s enough of that! Moving onto our beautiful March weddings from 2015. The first weekend in March we were so happy to have Friday and Saturday weddings both in the Ferguson Valley, nice and close to home. Friday’s wedding was at the Moody Cow Brewery, a casual/cocktail affair featuring lots of beautiful bright colours, and florals by Scentiment Flowers.

This was followed by Saturday’s wedding at St Aidan Wines, just over the road. This was a very different style of wedding – a sit down formal meal in the new function room on site with a classic white/rustic theme.

The ceremony was also held at the winery, with the white paper lanterns in the trees helping to carry the look through the day and create continuity.

The following weekend was the rainy weekend we had and we were so busy helping our clients implement their Plan B’s that we didn’t take any photos! We had furniture hired out to Old Broadwater Farm, Aqua Resort Busselton, and Alverstoke Barn in Brunswick. But we did have some other great news – our business took a huge leap and invested in a truck to help us move your hire furniture around the southwest. Here she is… (oh yeah, that’s me too, I was really excited!!!).

The next weekend saw us more in the south of the southwest, first at Old Broadwater Farm again where we had a whole bunch of hire furniture for Flora and Aaron’s huge cocktail style wedding and set up some custom installations for them – namely the vintage lantern tree and festoon lights and frames in the marquee – we set this up on Friday so the bride had time to “play” with our items and get really hands on making sure everything looked perfect

Flora said “Charmaine you’re absolutely brilliant! Thank you for playing a big part in setting up the most amazing day of our lives it was beyond magical!”

The next day saw us mainly at Dunsborough Cottages (now Yungarra Lodge) setting up another cocktail style wedding, with some hire furniture from us and lots from the client – these clever cookies made their own dancefloor, upcycled their own furniture and made a vintage lolly cart/buffet too!

We also had a ceremony set-up at Flametree Wines for Amber and Craig, we just love the stunning cellar door and stonework at this venue.

On Sunday we headed to Pullmans Resort at Bunkers Bay to set up a small ceremony and reception for Cassie and Paul, for around 30 people. Cassie gave us heaps of creative license for her decorations, only providing a broad styling brief, and it was great to be able to get creative.

Cassie said “Thank you again Charmaine it was perfect, and the reception was too, we can’t stop saying how beautiful it all was.”

The last weekend in March was fairly quiet for us and apart from a couple of furniture hire jobs and a small ceremony set up on the Saturday in Eaton in one of the parks there in Millbridge, we only travelled to Meelup on Friday to set up a wedding under the trees there. We also created the floral decorations for the aisle which I am very proud of as I think they look great!

Well that’s it for March! If you would like to get in touch with us to discuss your own wedding plans, please use our contact us page to get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
