Real Wedding: Charlene & Chris at Meelup Beach

Charlene & Chris had a very intimate ceremony under the shade of the peppermint trees at Meelup Beach in Dunsborough. This English couple flew out for a family holiday, and tied the knot at the same time. Not exactly an elopement, as their family in England knew they were getting married, and the bride’s brother who lives in Perth and his wife and daughter were in attendance along with the two gorgeous little girls belonging to the happy couple.

We corresponded with Charlene via email in the lead-up to the day, as of course she was still in England, to help her choose a beach location. Meelup was the final choice, due to the abundance of shady trees as an alternative to an on-the-sand ceremony, and a good thing too because it was a very hot December day and thus very hot on the sand! We also met with the to-be-weds at Meelup the day before the ceremony to choose the right spot to set up.

FVE provided our three piece wooden arch with white chiffon draping, and enough Gladiator chairs for the guests to all have a seat. With some baby’s breath tied to the arch and to the “aisle” chairs the decor was complete.

The sunlight was filtering through the leaves so we provided some parasols to guard against any stray rays. The parasols proved a real hit with the younger guests who took them for a little walk down to the beach and back and were loath to hand them back post-ceremony!

Our little vintage upcycled wooden table, hand painted white for a rustic look, did a great job as a signing table. Anita Revel was the celebrant on the day.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed some champagne (ice bucket, ice and glasses provided by FVE) while the newlyweds had some photos taken by DT Art Photography. I was waiting to pack up the drinks so I offered my help as a photographer’s assistant – my first time – it was actually pretty fun! Then ¬†all the guests and the happy couple headed off for a long lazy lunch at a local restaurant. We wish Chris & Charlene a long and happy life together!
