Yesterday I met with a lovely local DIY bride at the gorgeous St Aidan’s Winery in the Ferguson Valley for an obligation-free pre-wedding consult (which is something that I’m very happy to do for any couple). She is at the very early stages of her wedding planning and really doesn’t know where to start!
After a bit of discussion and some advice from me (which I hope she finds helpful!), we ended up on the planners/checklist page of the Coast to Country Weddings website which she is going to use as a template to create her own personalised planning checklist.
You can find checklists in most wedding planning magazines and websites, and they are a great place to start from to build your own personalised checklist. In my experience, I have found that the most important thing to do first is find your venue, and once you’ve found your venue you can work with them to set a date (as if they’re a popular venue they will book out well in advance). Once you have set a date, you can start booking your photographer, celebrant, and other suppliers. And you can start shopping for your dress!
It can be daunting when you think about all the things you have to do for your wedding! So, start with a checklist, just work through it bit by bit, and before you know it you’ll be well on your way down the aisle.
